Republic of South Brazil

This is an example how an independent South Brazil could look like, there are some seperatist groups down there but they are not that widespread.
South Brazils population descend mostly from european settlers (78,65% white), not only the portuguese but also the germans and italians (which form today notable minorities).
Further it has a relatively high standard of living, with the highest HDI in modern Brazil, 0.859 (2007), and the second highest per capita income of the country, $13.396, behind only the Southeast Region.
